MH Travel created shore tour KOTOR-NP LOVCEN as one of the most popular choices for cruise-ship guests who stay in the port in Kotor for just a few hours. Taking this tour guests will visit Lovcen National park above Kotor enjoying the amazing view of the Boka Bay, Njegoš's Mausoleum, and city Kotor, which is UNESCO World Heritage.
We understand that some cruise ships cannot dock at the port that guests need shuttles from the cruise-ship and back, which takes additional time, so we created a short version of this tour that visits only Kotor and National Park Lovcen without Perast. Others who want to visit Kotor and Perast without visit National Park can take our shore-tour KOTOR-PERAST.
Shore tour KOTOR-NP LOVCEN lasts 3 hours. The departure time depends on the guest's arrival in the port of Kotor and the estimated time for passing the border control. National Park Lovcen is 35km far away from Kotor. To be able to reach Njegos's Mausoleum we need to take a 10 km of drive through the park. The tours are guided in English and they will give guests full experiences of places and their highlights.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL WE START?
The tour starts from the port of Kotor after guests pass border control. Departure time depends on the docking time of the cruise ship. Guests just need to inform us of which cruise ship they will come and the tour will start according to guests' arrival time in the port of Kotor.
WHERE WE WILL GO?
We will go to Lovcen National Park, Njegoš's Mausoleum, Perast, Lady of the Rock, and The Old Town of Kotor
NATIONAL PARK LOVCEN AND NJEGOŠ'S MAUSOLEUM (MAUSOLEUM OF PETER II PETROVIC NJEGOS)
We will start from the port of Kotor to the Lovcen National Park via the scenic road above Kotor. The old road was built from 1878 to 1884 and consists of 25 serpentines. During this journey of 36 km, guests will discover an impressive panorama of Boka Bay. We will make a photo stop on the viewpoint on the top of the mountain and enjoy one of the most beautiful in the world.
After photo-stop we will continue through the Lovćen National Park, up to the second-highest peak Lake's Peak (Jezerski Vrh) at 1650m of altitude, and where we will stop to visit the Mausoleum of Petar II Petrovic Njegos who was the most important leader and writer in the history Montenegro. From the car parking to the mausoleum and the viewpoint guests need to go up over 460 steps, which is sometimes a little difficult for seniors, but with a few stops, it is possible for everyone.
The view from Mausoleum is unbelievable if the weather conditions are optimal (no clouds or rain). Almost the whole country is visible from that viewpoint. On our way back to Kotor we will pass village Njegusi famous thanks for producing Montenegrin prosciutto, cheese, and honey-wine.
After the visit Mausoleum and Lovcen will go to the old town of Kotor where guests will have a one-hour city tour and get information about the town's rich history and its squares, streets, churches, historical buildings, and gates like as Square of Arms, Bizanti Palace, Beskuca Palace, Pima Palace, St Tryphon Cathedral, Maritime Museum, St Nicholas Church, Blessed Osanna Church, the Sea Gate, and the North Gate. Kotor old town has been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1979 mostly thanks to its impressive city walls.
St. Giovanni is the name of the city walls and fortification, built above the old town of Kotor on the rocky slopes of the Lovcen mountain from the 9th to the 19th of century. To reach the top guests need to climb almost 1500 steps, (45 minutes of intense climbing) which is not easy during the summer heat. Most guests climb up to the small chapel of St. Giovanni where they can take impressively beautiful photos of the Kotor panorama.
